When is your application deadline?
- We have rolling admissions until all classes are full.
Are there expenses other than tuition?
- Tuition includes textbooks, school supplies, local field trips, individual class pictures, class pictures, and yearbooks.
- Additional fees are:
- $300 device fee for students entering grades 3-8.
- Optional fees are:
- Athletic Fees – Students in 5th through 8th are offered the opportunity to play on school sponsored teams.
- Hot Lunch – Students may purchase lunch by the semester or monthly.
- Early and After Care – Families have the option of participating in Early Care, After Care or both.
Do you have financial assistance?
- Yes, St. Luke’s offers need-based financial assistance for our families. For additional information, please click here.
Do students wear uniforms?
- PreK-3 and PreK-4 students wear play clothes.
- Students in kindergarten through 8th grades wear uniforms that can be purchased from School Time located on Jefferson Highway. Some items are available online at Lands End.
Are all students Episcopalian?
- Everyone is welcome, three-quarters of our students are not Episcopalian.
What is the student/teacher ratio?
- PreK-3 – 1 class of 14 students with a teacher and assistant.
- PreK-4 – 2 classes of 15 students with a teacher and shared assistant.
- Kindergarten – 2 classes of 15 students each with a teacher.
- 1st – 5th grades – 2 classes of up to 22 students each with a teacher.
- 6th – 8th grades – 2 classes of up to 22 students for each grade level.
What are school hours?
- PreK-3 – 5th grades – 8:15am -3:20pm (carpool beginning at 7:55am)
- 6th – 8th grades – 7:55am – 3:20pm (carpool beginning at 7:45am)
Do you offer before and after school care?
- Early Care is offered from 7:25am – 7:55am
- After School Care is offered from 3:20pm – 6:00pm.
- Extended Care is also available during holidays, depending on registrations.
Are there any after school activities available for students?
- Yes, St. Luke’s offers a variety of after school activities for all ages. Some are run by our faculty and staff while others are operated by outside local organizations. Examples include TOT Basketball, Chess, Happy Feet Soccer, Yoga, and more.
What standardized tests do St. Luke’s students take?
- 3rd – 6th grade students take the Aspire test in the Spring.
- 7th and 8th grade students take the Explore, and in some cases, the Plan Test in the Spring.
- All three of these tests are aligned with the ACT exam students take in high school; each is designed for students who are older than our students.
Do St. Luke’s students take field trips?
- 2nd Grade – Students take a surprise field trip to a local museum (don’t tell Mrs. Frizzle!)
- 3rd Grade – Students take a tour of Baton Rouge including a visit to the state capitol and the Louisiana State Museum.
- 4th Grade – Students visit LIGO and take a Breaux Bridge Swamp tour.
- 5th Grade – Science trip to the Gulf Coast Research Center in Ocean Springs, MS.
- 6th Grade – Science trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas
- 7th Grade – Team building trip to Camp Allen in Navasota, Texas
- 8th Grade – History trip to Washington D.C.
Do St. Luke’s 8th graders leave with any high school credits?
- Our graduates have the opportunity to earn high school credits in World Geography, Spanish I, Algebra I, and Geometry.
St. Luke’s does not have a high school. What does this mean for my child?
- Our students are sought after by the top high schools in our city. 99% get into their first choice for high school.
- St. Luke’s is ahead of the curve by offering a safe, comfortable environment for students in PreK-3 through 8th grade. Our students develop at their own pace without the added pressure of switching schools or the temptations of imitating high school students.
- St. Luke’s alumni and their parents frequently report how well they do when they go to high school. They recognize that the smaller environment and reduced stress allowed them to mature in such a way that give them the ability to view high school as the next great adventure.
Where do students go to high school after graduating St. Luke’s?
- St. Luke’s graduates generally attend area high schools including Baton Rouge Magnet High School, Catholic High School, The Dunham School, Episcopal High School, Liberty High School, Parkview Baptist High School, St. Joseph’s Academy, St. Michael’s High School, and other area high schools.
