St. Luke’s Episcopal School was very fortunate to have named Mrs. Connie Bradford as our Head of School in the summer of 2018.
Mrs. Bradford is a Baton Rouge native who brings a wealth of experience and learned insight to this critical position. She is a career educator with deep experience in both the classroom and in school administration.
She earned her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction & Educational Leadership from Louisiana Tech, and served in the EBR school system prior to being involved in the formation of the Chapel School which is now the Dunham School. She served as lower school administrator there before moving to Ruston where she served Cedar Creek School as Head of School from 1999 to 2011. During her tenure at Cedar Creek, in 2006, Cedar Creek School was named as one of the top five All-Star High Schools in America by USA Today based on the academic achievements of its students.
Mrs. Bradford also served on the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) from 2010 to 2016. She is currently the community representative to BESE’s Accountability Commission. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts in Natchitoches, LA.
She brings to St. Luke’s a remarkable history of building outstanding school programs focused on her philosophy of educating the whole child; the mind and the heart. This is achieved by motivating students to develop a love of learning through the creation of a stimulating environment that challenges the student’s potential. This is accomplished by capitalizing on the student’s curiosity and interest through activities and programs that stress skill building, creative content and higher order thinking.
The St. Luke’s experience embraces the value of preparing each child for a life of meaning a purpose; academically and spiritually. Mrs. Bradford brings an unmistakable passion for children and their development. She understands the value of every student’s uniqueness and helps them to use it to reach their full potential.
